Thunder, the image of Shock, brings success. When the thunder comes, there is terror and trembling; yet from this fear is born good fortune. Afterwards there is laughter and joyful words, for order has been established. The thunder startles for a hundred miles; it alarms those afar and strikes dread into those near. Yet the sacrificial spoon and chalice are not let fall. He who stands firm may go forth to guard the ancestral temple and the altars of the land, and to preside as master of the sacrifice.
