13 · Tong Ren · Fellowship

Fellowship with men in the open country. Success. It furthers one to cross the great water. It furthers the perseverance of the superior man. The Commentary on the Decision says: In Fellowship with Men, the yielding finds its place and the central position, and responds to the Creative. Therefore it is called Fellowship with Men.

In the hexagram Tongren, the second line wholeheartedly responds upward to the fifth line—this is what is meant by "that which is rooted in Heaven draws close to what is above.

14 · Da You · Great Possession

Possession in Great Measure: supreme success. The Commentary on the Judgment says: In Possession in Great Measure, the yielding line attains the honored place, central and great, and those above and below respond to it. Therefore it is called Possession in Great Measure. Its character is firm and strong, refined and bright.

The fire in the heavens is the sun, who brings light to this world and also brings life. Li is fundamentally a yin trigram and carries the image of the feminine.

What the 综卦 relation actually says

The local structured corpus records Hexagram 13's 综卦 (zong gua, inverse) as Hexagram 14, and Hexagram 14's inverse as Hexagram 13. In the corpus's stored six-line sequence, 111101 becomes 101111 when the order is reversed. Turning the figure end for end changes line positions while preserving each line's yin or yang polarity.
