37 · Jia Ren · The Family
The Family. It is favorable for the woman to hold fast to the right. The Commentary on the Judgment says: In the Family, the woman holds her correct place within, and the man holds his correct place without. That man and woman each keep their proper place is the great righteousness of Heaven and Earth.
This commentary reads Li below and Xun above as an image of entry into a household, using period-specific family roles to interpret Jiaren.

38 · Kui · Opposition
The Tuan says: In Kui, fire flames upward, while the waters of the marsh flow downward. Two women dwell together, yet their wills diverge and their ways are not the same. The lower trigram, joyous, cleaves with gladness to the brightness above; the yielding advances and moves upward, while the clinging, soft and central, responds below to the strong line...
In the hexagram Kui, Li sits above and Dui below; their aspirations do not move in the same direction, yet they occupy a single hexagram together, as if dwelling within a single room.
