Exact classical source

雷在地中,复。先王以至日闭关,商旅不行,后不省方。

Yarrow editorial translation. Thunder within the earth: Return. Thus the former kings closed the passes at the solstice; merchants and travelers did not go, and the ruler did not inspect the regions.

Source image

Thunder is present inside the earth but has not yet burst outward; the first return is protected while movement pauses.

Concrete tension

Continuous messages, appointments, purchases, and travel keep every opening filled, leaving no quiet interval for anything basic to return.

Visible modern action

Choose one 24-hour recovery window. Turn on an auto-reply, close non-urgent inbound channels, and cancel or defer one optional trip; keep only a clearly marked emergency route open.

Why this action comes from this source

The source protects return by closing passes and pausing commerce, travel, and inspection. The modern action therefore closes concrete channels and optional movement for a defined day instead of merely asking the viewer to slow down.

Reflection question

Which one day can you protect from non-urgent entry and travel?

Audience value

Caring: it gives a finite pause with an emergency boundary, without claiming the ancient solstice practice or promising recovery.

Source boundary

The Chinese quotation is checked against Yarrow's bundled Yang Tiancai and Zhang Shanwen source text. Where that OCR witness substitutes a character, the page discloses the raw reading and checks the correction against a second classical witness. The English translation, objects, tension, and action are modern Yarrow editorial work. This is not a fresh cast, prediction, or promised outcome.
