The "Xu Gua" says: "Nothing transforms things like the cauldron, therefore it is followed by the Ding (Cauldron) hexagram." Once the old is reformed, the new must be taken in — this is the use and function of the cauldron vessel. Thus the "Za Gua" says: "Ge removes the old; Ding takes in the new.
