3 · Zhun · Difficulty at the Beginning
The Commentary on the Decision says: Difficulty at the Beginning shows the firm and the yielding first meeting, and movement arising amidst peril. Through peril it yet wins through, supreme success following firm correctness. When thunder and rain fill heaven and earth, Heaven brings forth the ten thousand things out of darkness. 50 · Ding · The Cauldron
The Cauldron: renewal through the sacred vessel. Supreme good fortune. Success. The Commentary on the Judgment says: The Cauldron is an image. Wood enters fire, and thus food is cooked. The sage cooks offerings to honor the Supreme Deity, and cooks abundantly to nourish the worthy and wise. Gentle and yielding, with ears keen and eyes clear, the yielding advances and moves upward, attains the central place and responds to the firm. Therefore: supreme success.
